The revised curriculum sets out a single broad aim for education: 'To empower young people to develop their potential and to make informed and responsible decisions throughout their lives.'

P.D. & M.U. concentrates on the development of children's:
knowledge, attitudes, skills, relationships, behaviour, thinking skills and personal capabilities, emotional awareness, values and life skills.
There are two strands covered within the primary curriculum:
Strand 1 - Personal Understanding and Health
Strand 2 - Mutual Understanding in the Local and Wider Community.
